Fiorano’s fastest
As powerful as a Bugatti Veyron and as light as a Ferrari 458. That’s a mouth-watering power-to-weight equation for LaFerrari. The performance figures from the 708kW supercar are other-worldly as a result: 0 – 300kph time of 15 seconds before achieving a top speed of 350kph.
But its lap times around Ferrari’s infamous in-house Fiorano test track that are really the proof of the pudding. The previous quickest road car was the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta with a lap time of 1 minute 23 seconds, but rather predictably, LaFerrari with its lighter weight and hybrid-KERS kick in the backside can blitz the lap in 1 minute 20 seconds.
To put that lap time into perspective if you’re one of the lucky 499 LaFerrari buyers who’s shelled out £1.2-million. A purpose-built Maserati Trofeo race car is 1 and a half seconds slower – but the fastest ever F1 racer, the V10 F2004 can do a lap in under 56 seconds at the hands of Michael Schumacher. Everything is relative we guess.
