2016 Toyota Hilux TRD revelead

The highly anticipated Hilux can’t come quick enough for Toyota SA, as the current double-cab loses sales ground to the Ford Ranger month after month. To further titillate us the Japanese carmaker has now put together a TRD sports model in conjunction with Revo and it brings a bit of bling and aggression to the upcoming bakkie.

The new 2016 Hilux was originally unveiled in Thailand more than a month ago, so it’s no surprise this Revo TRD model was revealed at last week’s Bangkok International motor show in Thailand.

The full title of the car in question is the Hilux Revo TRD Sport Offroad prototype. It sports readily available parts on the TRD (Toyota Racing Development) order list and they include 18-inch black alloy wheels with 265/60 R18 tyres.

And a bespoke blacked-out grille, a front guard, tailgate spoiler, carbonfibre mirror covers, TRD body graphics, pronounced side sills, custom shift knob, TRD interior trims, and heightened and toughened off-road suspension, brake caliper kit, and sports exhaust.

Toyota is expected to release most of these components for the 2016 Toyota Hilux, most probably with a fully-fledged TRD variant in the pipeline at some point in the future as well.
