Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet revealed

Traditionally, cabrios appeal  to two kinds of driver. There’s the kind who enjoys a good manicure (hello Sebring convertible owner) and the kind who lives for an acoustically enhanced driving experience with the added benefit of being even closer to the action. The kind of topless creations the latter enjoys are often endowed with testosterone-fused titles like Spyder or Roadster.  And it’s for these okes that Porsche lops off the top bit of their 911, albeit with the softer 'Cabriolet'' nomenclature. This is it.

The powertrains are identical to the units in the Coupe models, that is a 257kW 3.4 litre flat six or a 3.8 with 294kW through a seven speed manual box, or if you spec it, the PDK automated manual. The Cabrio, like its Coupe sibling benefits from a longer wheelbase and wider track than the model it replaces and handling should once again be at the absolute pinnacle of performance.

Want one? You can have a new 911 Cabrio in South Africa as soon as the second quarter of 2012. Yes please.
