In preparation for this year’s launch of a production Crossover 4x4, Mini has revealed the four-seater Beachcomber Concept. Due to be displayed during January’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Beachcomber gives a clear indication of the styling direction BMW has chosen for the series car. Apart from the lack of doors of course. Details like the headlamp shape and design, hexagonal grille and bumpers have a appropriately tougher feel than the regular Mini Cooper.

The concept features ALL4 all-wheel drive, a removable fabric roof and an interior tailored for those who like the outdoors (instruments include a compass and an inclinometer.) What’s more, the interior trim panels are finished in magnetic paint, while the instrument panel grain resembles the structure of dry earth.

A modern-day Mini Moke for the One-der years?
