This is Citroen’s electric city car challenger, and yes, you have seen it before. Like its Peugeot i0n twin, the C-Zero is a rebadged Mitsubishi i-Miev, due for European launch in the last quarter of 2010. A quick tech review reveals a 47kW/180Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor driving the rear wheels via a single-speed reduction gear. The motor itself is powered by a mid-mounted lithium-ion battery system, fully rechargeable in six hours. Silent acceleration, from 0 to 100kph takes just 15 seconds and the 3.5m long, four-seater electromite tops out at 130kph. Citroen claims an EU combined cycle range of 130km.
