35 years after the first one, Porsche will publicly display the next generation 911 Turbo at
At the heart of these claims lies a new 3.8-litre flat six, which features direct fuel injection and twin variable turbine turbochargers. Power output rises to 368kW, good for 0-100kph in a scorching 3.4 seconds and a 312kph top end. Despite this, Porsche claims configuration specific combined fuel consumption of between 11.4 and 11.7 litres/100km – impressive (in theory).
In line with the recently renewed ‘lesser’ 911s, the new Turbo can also be ordered in seven-speed PDK (Double clutch gearbox) guise. But wait, here’s the cool part. As a further option, you can specify your PDK with an alternative steering wheel with proper left down-shift, right up-shift paddles.
Porsche engineers have also worked on the dynamics with most of the acronyms receiving a tune up, like PTM (Porsche Traction Management) and PSM (Porsche Stability Management). A new option on the Turbo is PTV or Porsche Torque Vectoring which transfers torque to the wheel which still has grip as opposed to just cutting power when a wheel loses grip.
The new Porsche 911 Turbo – the micro evolution continues.
