The final round of the Pro Tour championship series saw visiting Dutch driver Jeroen Bleekemolen and newly-crowned Shelby Can-Am champion Darryn Lobb walk away with the race victories.
Bleekemolen, who drove for The Netherlands in the A1GP series and is the 2009 Porsche Super Cup champion, showed his class in a borrowed GP Energy Drink car normally driven by Toby Scheckter. He took a comfortable pole position in qualifying ahead of outgoing champion Ruis Campos (Hugo Boss), Alan Eve (Sunshine Testing) and Thomas Reib (Coolstar beverages). Lobb was fifth.
The Dutchman romped away to an untroubled win in the first 10-lap race ahead of Campos, Eve and Jean-Pierre Bredenhann (Panelrite/Bigfoot Express). Lobb, battling with an ill-handling car, was sixth.
A broken gear linkage on the warm-up lap prevented Bleekemolen from starting race two. Lobb took full advantage to win, but only after getting past Eve in a memorable last lap manoeuvre that Eve was clearly not expecting. Reib was third ahead of Bertil Hoffman (GP Energy Drink) and Campos (who snatched second place in the championship from Eve).
