Peugeot’s stranglehold at the top of the standings held strong right the way through final qualifying. None of the Peugeot drivers improved their times but all shared fastest sectors during their runs.

Audi managed to close the gap to the Peugeot but remain just under a second off the slowest Peugeot. The improvement may at least give them a chance come tomorrow’s race start. The Lola Aston Martins remain the fastest petrol powered cars but are nowhere near the pace of the diesels.

In LMP2, the Strakka team car retook possession of pole from the Highcroft team.

The GT1 class has closed up since Aston Martin took provisional pole on Wednesday evening. The Ford GT’s have been steadily improving and now the top three cars in class are within half a second of each other.

A last minute dash for the Corvette’s in GT2 saw them plant their cars second and third on the grid, sandwiched in by the Ferrari F430’s.
