Qualifying one was a frantic affair at the Le Mans circuit, most of the teams opted to run light as the expectancy of rain today an tomorrow looms over the 13km long track.
Peugeot again dominated all four places at the top of the time sheets, the factory team may have to keep a close eye on Oreca team to ensure they take poll for Saturday’s start. Nicolas Lapierre in the Oreca Peugeot was fastest for most of the session, but having run so light on fuel struggled to get the car back to the pits. As a result the car only completed six laps in the session but still held fourth place.
The Audi team seem to be scratching their heads a bit as the outright speed of the R15 seems to be lacking in comparison. They seem to be pinning their hopes on being the more efficient team when it comes to fuel saving and pit stops.
The petrol powered Lola Aston Martins were still the fastest three non oil burning vehicles on track but are still two seconds off the closest Audi.
Strakka racing were a second quicker then their sister car in the LMP2 category and actually went faster than a few of the LMP1 cars.
In GT1 the Aston Martin DBR9 is over two seconds faster than the closest rival, which is now a Ford GT.
GT2 is lead by a Ferrari F430GT, edging out the Corvette C6 ZR1 that is favoured for the class victory.
