Citroen’s DS3 has just been unveiled locally – we were invited to sample it in Gauteng. And sample it we did – it’s a stunner. Quick too - with 110kW and 240Nm on tap from its 1.6 turbo charged motor (shared with the Mini Cooper) the DS3 is capable of a 7.3 second sprint to 100kph, and onward to a top speed of 214kph. A proven suspension setup – Macpherson struts upfront, torsion beams at the rear provides the platform for the DS3’s assault on the Magaliesberg region. It even sounds the part thanks to a bassy turbo whoop exiting the exhaust pipes. But it must be said the feather in its beret has to be those drop dead aesthetics. A shark-fin C-pillar, floating roof, meaty two tone alloys and bedazzling led lamps serving as running lights means you’ll see it before you hear it. It’s proper tough-looking and is set to mix it up aggressively with the likes of Mini and the looming Audi A1 www.topcar.co.za/news-articles/audi-reveals-a1 in the soon to erupt premium B segment. ds3 styling
its a pity the car will eventually lose out to the likes of the A1 and cooper - not because its any bad but because the badge isnt as "premium" enough but all in all a brilliant car, wouldnt change mine for anything - except a BMW 135i.
You’d never fail to notice
You’d never fail to notice the look of this car even from a far. The price is absolutely reasonable just look at the quality of car parts used on its interior.. The bedazzling led lamps is really astonishing considering that it went well with the overall look of this car.. Stunning, attractive, striking, what else could be added on to its description???
At least it does not look so
At least it does not look so dull than than all the VW cars
DS3 PRICE IS OK
THE PRICE IS OK FOR ACAR LIKE THIS. RATHER THIS THAN AN UGLY AUDI A1 FOR INSTANCE, MORE EXPENSIVE AND NOT SO ATTRACTIVE
Is this car gorgeous or what?
Is this car gorgeous or what? I am amazed on what's new on the market to day, I wish I had the money to afford it, I am still driving the car I got through a car donations program. I'm really curious on how affordable this Citroen is. Kevin, you're right these are some cars that one can identify even without a badge because of their special styling.
special
I have always admired the Mini, but never had the urge to own one or any of the other cars in this segment for that matter. I looked at the DS3 the other day and was totally blown away. I'm thinking up all sorts of excuses now to buy one of these cars. The styling of the interior as well as the exterior gives the car a classy look and feel that make it extremely special. The quality is right up there too, the feel of the various buttons, air vent etc feel better than the german cars to me. Out of interest I looked at what the overseas folk had to say about the car and found out it won Top Gears car of the year award. Not an award for its segment but their overall award. Its also in the running for European car of the year. I have to say i agree and what an achievement. This is the best thing I have seen in years. I think Citroen have a real winner here.
Stunning
This is a stunning car and well done to Citroen. The engine is already proven in the Mini. Styling wise I think it looks better than the Mini and certainly roomier. Big ups! I hope Citroen sell lots of them.
Stunner
What a stunning car.. Inside and out. Handles very well.. With plenty power on tap. A must have.. Hoping to get my hands on the 1.6 thp Dsport..
agree
i want to agree with you, it looks great, i'm just a little afraid of Citroen and their after sales. If something breaks i don't want to have to wait for someone in a yacht to sail out my part from France.
Anti anti retro.
This is one of the coolest looking cars I have seen in years.
I so badly want one. I am sick of face lifts and cars that play it save (vw) when it come to styling.
Well done Citroen with the new "GODESS".
Berserk.
A desirable Citroen at last....
The new DS3 can hopefully increase the prescence of this french brand in South africa. It looks fantastic, and overseas reports have been very enthusiastic about it, prasing its fine chassis, excellent engine, and vastly improved fit and finish, even the gearbox (a all to often downfall of Citroen models) has been described as the best ever to come out of the company. look forward to driving it. entry models make most sense from a pricing point of view, lets just hope Citroens aftersales service has improved to match the quality of there fine new products.
styling
Thank goodness that there are still cars available with brave styling, this and the mito and renault well clear of mazda-toyota-ford-opel clones, possible to identify even without the badges!
