Mazda has stopped production of its rotary engined sportscoupe after its engine failed to meet european emission regulations. apparently it would be too expensive too develop the current engine to meet the required emission standards. an all new R-X8 was due to be launched next year, i hope that doesnt get canned as well. i was a fan of the current car, i liked the styling in particular and the superbike like sound emitted from the engine when driven hard, unfortunately the engine also enjoyed a drink, oil changes being almost as frequent as the stop for petrol, this factor probably limited the appeal of this car to the masses. a pity. it will be missed.
