The beginning of a passion

Hi All,

Welcome to my blog which will only be dedicated to a life long passion of mine - Writing reviews on most motor vehicles in SA both old and new...

I am a total car enthusiast that aims to use this wonderful platform to provide the public with real life reviews of all types of cars. I unfortunately do not have the pleasure of working in the motor industry at the moment but hopefully some day I will.

So lets get down to business, I aim to pick a car on a regular basis and cover aspects such as design, performance, safety, reliability, Luggage capacity, Fuel Economy, quality images and the list will continue. What makes me different to the others you ask, well i'm a young family man who can relate to real life responsibilities as well as the exhilaration of driving a performance car. With balance being important I can always provide the public with an unbiased view of a particular car. Another aspect is that most reviews tend to focus only on new cars that in all truth are no longer affordable for most, with this in mind I will ensure that I maintain an equal balance between the old and the new, the affordable and the not so affordable.

I'm rearing to get going but need to finalise some resources and ideas and will hopefully start interacting with you like mind folks shortly. Please bear with me as this venture is completely new but I can assure you that any criticism will be handled constructively.

Thanks again for allowing me this opportunity to express my passion...

 Kindest Regards

Hi, Lyle. I read through what

Hi, Lyle.

I read through what you've said here and it seems that you could do with a comment. What you have written comes across as a CV. I think that what you intend to offer is well-covered by the mags in general. It's a bit of a tough market and the silent treatment is what you can look forward to if you cannot show a style which would prick an interest. A style as opposed to content, I emphasize. For every one successful motoring jounalist there are, at any given time, a multitude upon multitude of hopefuls.

Same again, different cars journalism does not draw readers and thereby bring revenue. Just take a wander through Top Gear magazine. There you'll see cars as subject matter, sure, but way more importantly you'll see articulate use of English that retains the reader's interest. That's  what you should aim for in getting any new venture off the ground.

And before you say'how dare he, who does he think he is' , I'm where you are. Good luck, then.
